If you’re trying to log into your Huawei router and hitting a wall, you’re probably dealing with one of the most common frustrations: Huawei doesn’t use a single default IP. Depending on your model, it could be 192.168.3.1, 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.8.1 — and trying the wrong one just gives you a blank page.
This guide covers everything you need to get into your Huawei router admin panel. You’ll find the right IP for your specific model, the default username and password, step-by-step login instructions for PC, Mac, iPhone, and Android, and clear fixes when the login page refuses to load or the password stops working.
Huawei Router Default IP Address by Model
Here’s the thing most guides get wrong: they list one IP and tell you to try it. Huawei uses at least four different default IPs across its product lineup, and using the wrong one wastes your time.
Which IP Does Your Huawei Router Use?
Check your router’s bottom label first — the correct IP is printed there. If the label is worn or missing, use this table:
| Huawei Model | Default IP Address | Router Type |
|---|---|---|
| WS5200, WS7200, AX3, AX6 | 192.168.3.1 | Home WiFi router |
| EchoLife HG532, HG655b | 192.168.1.1 | DSL gateway/modem-router |
| HG232f | 192.168.3.1 | Home broadband router |
| E5576, E5577, E5787 | 192.168.8.1 | 4G Mobile WiFi / pocket router |
| B525, B618, B535 | 192.168.8.1 | 4G/5G CPE home router |
| HG256s, HG253s | 192.168.0.1 | Older DSL models |
Quick rule of thumb: If you have a standard home WiFi router (WS or AX series), start with 192.168.3.1. If it’s a 4G or mobile WiFi device, try 192.168.8.1. Older DSL modem-routers usually land on 192.168.1.1.
For Huawei mobile hotspot models like the E5576, our 192.168.8.1 login guide covers the login process in more detail.
The mediarouter.home URL Method
Most people don’t know this: Huawei routers also respond to a hostname address in the browser. Instead of typing an IP, you can type:
http://mediarouter.home
This works on most modern Huawei home routers when you’re connected to the router’s WiFi. It’s easier to remember than an IP and pulls up the same admin login page. If the IP address method isn’t loading for you, try this first before anything else.

How to Find Your IP If You’re Not Sure
If neither the label nor the table above gives you a clear answer, use our Find My Gateway IP tool — it detects your router’s IP automatically without any manual searching. You can also check it manually:
On Windows: Open Command Prompt → type ipconfig → look for “Default Gateway”
On Mac: Go to System Settings → Network → your connection → Details → TCP/IP tab → Router field
That number next to “Default Gateway” or “Router” is your Huawei router’s IP address.
Huawei Router Default Username and Password
Most Huawei routers ship with the same factory credentials, but there are exceptions — especially if your router came from an ISP.
| Username | Password | When It Applies |
|---|---|---|
| admin | admin | Most factory-default Huawei routers |
| admin | @Huawei123 | Some newer AX-series models |
| admin | admin123 | Certain regional variants |
| admin | (printed on label) | ISP-supplied routers (BT, Vodafone, etc.) |
| user | user | Some older EchoLife models |
Important: If your Huawei router was supplied by an internet provider — BT, Vodafone, or a regional ISP — the password is almost never the factory default. Check the sticker on the bottom or back of the router. ISPs often set a unique admin password per device, and no generic list will have it.
How to Log Into Your Huawei Router
Before you start, make sure your device is connected to the Huawei router — either by WiFi or with an Ethernet cable plugged into one of the LAN ports. You can’t access the admin page over mobile data.
On a PC or Mac
- Open your web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari — any works).
- Click in the address bar at the top — not the Google search bar.
- Type your router’s IP address (192.168.3.1 or 192.168.8.1) and press Enter.
- The Huawei admin login page appears. Enter your username and password.
- Click Login or press Enter.
- You’re in. The admin dashboard loads with your network overview.
If the page doesn’t load on the first try, add http:// in front of the IP: http://192.168.3.1. Some browsers try HTTPS by default and Huawei’s admin page doesn’t always support it.
On iPhone
- Connect your iPhone to the Huawei router’s WiFi network.
- Open Safari (recommended — Chrome on iOS can occasionally redirect to search).
- Tap the address bar and type
192.168.3.1orhttp://mediarouter.home. - The login page loads. Enter your username and password.
- Tap Login.
If the page redirects to a search result, you’ve typed into the wrong bar. Make sure you’re in the URL/address field, not the search field.
On Android
- Connect to the Huawei router’s WiFi.
- Open Chrome or your default browser.
- Tap the address bar and type
192.168.3.1(or the correct IP for your model). - Enter the admin username and password on the login screen.
- Tap Login.
One thing to watch on Android: your phone may auto-switch to mobile data if it thinks the WiFi has no internet access (which can happen during initial router setup). Turn off mobile data temporarily if the login page won’t load.
Using the Huawei AI Life App
Newer Huawei routers — including the WS5200, WS7200, and AX series — support the Huawei AI Life app as an alternative to the web browser method. It’s genuinely easier on mobile.
- Download the Huawei AI Life app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Make sure your phone is connected to the Huawei router’s WiFi.
- Open the app — it detects the router automatically.
- Follow the setup wizard or tap Router Settings to access controls.
The app gives you access to connected device management, parental controls, WiFi settings, and firmware updates — all without typing an IP into a browser.
Huawei Admin Panel: What’s Different by Model
Huawei’s admin interface isn’t identical across models. If you log in and the layout looks different from what a guide shows, that’s normal. Here’s what to expect:
| Model Series | Admin UI Style | Notable Difference |
|---|---|---|
| AX3, AX6, WS7200 | Modern dashboard, dark mode option | “More” tab for advanced settings |
| WS5200 | Clean tile layout | Parental controls under “Home Network” |
| B525, B618 (4G CPE) | Simplified tabs: Status, Settings, SMS | Has SMS inbox for SIM-based routers |
| E5576, E5787 (Mobile WiFi) | Minimal UI, WiFi-focused | No LAN port settings — WiFi only |
| EchoLife HG532 | Older blue/grey interface | Advanced settings require separate admin login level |
If you’re on a B525 or B618 4G router, the admin panel includes an SMS section — that’s normal. It’s used for managing text messages received over your SIM card.
What to Do After You’re In
Getting into the admin panel is step one. These are the three things worth doing immediately.
1. Change the admin password. The default “admin/admin” login is well-known. Go to Settings → System → Account Management (exact path varies by model) and set a strong admin password. Write it down somewhere safe — you’ll need it every time you log in.
2. Update your WiFi name and password. Go to WiFi Settings → Basic Settings. Change the SSID (your network name) to something that doesn’t identify your router brand or location. Set a WPA2 or WPA3 password that’s at least 12 characters.
3. Check for a firmware update. Huawei pushes firmware updates that fix bugs and security issues. Go to Settings → System → Firmware Update and check if a newer version is available. Keeping firmware current is one of the most effective ways to keep your network secure — our router firmware update guide walks through what to expect during the process.
Huawei Router Login Problems — Fixed
Wrong IP / Page Won’t Load
This is the most common issue. You typed an IP, nothing loaded. Here’s the fix sequence:
- Try the other Huawei IPs: 192.168.3.1 → 192.168.1.1 → 192.168.8.1 → 192.168.0.1
- Try
http://mediarouter.homein your browser - Make sure you’re connected to the router’s WiFi (not mobile data, not a different network)
- Add
http://before the IP if you’re on a browser that defaults to HTTPS - Try an incognito/private window — cached redirects sometimes block the login page
- Try a different browser entirely
If none of these work, open Command Prompt on Windows (or Terminal on Mac) and run ipconfig (Windows) or netstat -nr (Mac) to get the exact default gateway your device is using. That’s your router’s real IP.
You can also use our Find My Gateway IP tool to detect it automatically.

Password Not Accepted
If you’re entering “admin” / “admin” and getting a login error, work through these in order:
- Check the sticker on the bottom of the router — some units have a unique printed admin password
- Your ISP may have set a custom password. Contact them or check their documentation
- Try these alternative Huawei passwords:
@Huawei123,admin123,user/user - If you’ve never changed the password and defaults don’t work, proceed to factory reset
Changed Password and Forgot It
This is the one situation where there’s no workaround — you can’t recover a forgotten admin password on a Huawei router. The only fix is a factory reset, which wipes all your custom settings.
Before you reset, check: did you save the password in your browser? Go to your browser’s saved passwords section and search for “192.168.3.1” or “mediarouter.home” — it may be stored there.
If not, a reset is your only option. See below.
Factory Reset (Step-by-Step)
A factory reset wipes all settings — WiFi name, password, admin credentials, port forwarding rules — and returns the router to factory defaults.
- Make sure the router is powered on.
- Locate the Reset button — it’s a small pinhole on the back or underside of the router.
- Press and hold it with a paperclip or pin for 10–15 seconds.
- Release when the LED indicators blink and the router begins restarting.
- Wait 60–90 seconds for the router to fully reboot.
- Connect to the router’s default WiFi (name and password are on the bottom label).
- Log in using the factory default credentials from the table above.
After the reset, set a new admin password and reconfigure your WiFi settings before doing anything else.
Conclusion
Getting into a Huawei router admin panel comes down to one thing: using the right IP for your model. Start with 192.168.3.1 for home WiFi routers, 192.168.8.1 for 4G and mobile WiFi devices, and http://mediarouter.home as a universal fallback. Default credentials are admin / admin on most models, but always check the label if you got the router from an ISP.
Once you’re in, change the admin password, update your WiFi name and password, and check for a firmware update. Those three steps take under five minutes and make a real difference to your network security.
